Cool

Whether or not this was your intent, you made an 8-bit video game song :P

I'm impressed at how full this sounds, given that I can only detect one patch in the entire song, used as both bass and treble. I'm glad to see that there is no random clicking and that you take the time to adjust the stuff on the screen to fit the melody you're thinking of.

You're probably not going to improve on this song; I know I don't like to change and resubmit songs. Either way, some parts of this could do with a nice atmospheric pad.

Knowing that you have talent, I suggest you experiment a lot with yor audio programs to find out all they can do. Talent may be innate, but the only way to get technically good is to practice.

I'm sorry if I take a teacher-like tone, but I'll hazard you haven't made a whole slew of songs before this one. Take this all as friendly advice.

I am working n other songs to make a album so I can sell it at my school cause my school is a techno based school, and people have heard only samples of my music. I will soon try to make this song a ringtone for my friend cellphones. That would be cool. Ok, back t your review. The program I use doesn't have atmospheric pads but once I learn how to use Reason 2.5® better I can use some pads to repair the song. I am experimenting with garageband and I'm getting pretty good with it so I can use it to remix some stuff a bit. I just need to leann reason for now cause it's a lot harder than garageband. Ill talk to you over adium!

Is Awesome

I'm gonna make an industrial song now. I love the absence of compromises in this. This is music at its purest. Great driving bassline and ambience. No criticism.

Woah, really? Personally I think it comes out as somewhat fluffy, wrapped in. Thanks still, Milosz. :D

Siema, Polak!

Flute

Man, you really know what you're doing! I like this song a lot! That flute sound in the left ear is the best. Use of reverbs and delays is not overdone, it's just right. Cool oldschool saw synth, fun melody, good sampling.

Foreign Exchange

Thanks for the review. I'll be sure to check out your song and leave a few words!

I Like Sliding Guitar

There is an enjoyable feeling of vintage house in this track from the beginning. Addition of what appears to be tape distortion on many sounds throughout amplify that feeling, and somehow remind me of a setting sun in a small town; see if you can get that some time. I had anonymous nostalgia at a few moments in the piece. I thought both the bassline and harmony excellent, and the muted guitar solo top notch. Nothing negative to say here, you did an amazing job.

Defining Sampling

At mention of sampling, I'm fairly sure people are referring to the use of a sample, not the use of a melodic or rhythmic loop.

Do you mean to say you recorded the string sample, then used it to make a melody? That's sampling. Do you mean to say you synthesized the instrument on a graintable or other synth? That's not sampling.

If you used any mechanically recorded sounds, whether they came with the program or you recorded them yourself, you have sampled. Sampling is not regarded as a negative occurence at all. On the contrary: there are many important skills associated with sampling, such as slicing and applying LFOs.

This is a pleasant piece. Strings are not too intrusive, but they are easily audible. Chords are generally original and have a classic touch. At some moments, adjacent semitones are played between the bass and strings, which cause a slight dissonance. This does not affect the song to any greater degree.

The beat is very minimal and rightfully so, as this allows listeners to easily exfoliate the layers of instruments beneath the beat. I feel that the bass takes form of sub-percussion and cello, or other low string instrument.

Please do not praise your own art: "A wonderful session of strings".

Good work,

Karbon responds:

Apperantly people don't understand that I use Edirol Orchestral for all of my orchestra type features. So that is far from sampling.

Once again, absolutly NO SAMPLING was used in this track.

I added the bass drop to feel the taste of the hip hop during the intro, to keep it from being a bore.

For the note on, "A wonderful session of strings", that is just me. I like to exaggerate. :P

Thank you for the highly constructed review.

Positive Commentary

I don't follow the general aversion towards the tunes here. I think your music is great. It's elegant, playful and somewhat experimental.

My visual experience of this song includes the scorch of a sunny sunday and the lethargy of dawn. I imagine a person waking up in a white room, dressing up, walking out and over to the local convenience store.

The synths or samples have an analog feel. Some of them I liken to a keyboard (DX, rhodes). Many have the crackling of vinyl, which is both soothing and enjoyable.

Timing is balanced very well; no part of the song seemed awkward or boring. In essence, I have no negative constructive criticism on this song.

Stay with the music and take care,

Haha Cool

It might as well be 120 BPM. I'm a liking the hardcore japanese gaming feel.

The Guitar Rules

This doesn't have that beautiful mood found in groove boat. The guitar is amazing, though. Got a haze in my head, gotta meditate some, can't write more.
